What is ECO4?
ECO4 (Energy Company Obligation) is a £4 billion round of funding that you may be eligible to access right now. This free, government-backed scheme is designed to improve energy efficiency and finally end fuel poverty. What help is available?

Energy companies are obligated to reduce carbon emissions as part of the UK’s pledge to be net zero by 2050. The ECO scheme has been running since 2013 and has already helped more than 2.4 million homes, reduced their monthly energy bills for free.
How do you qualify for an ECO4 grant?
ECO4 grants are available to anyone meeting a specific set of criteria. The idea is to help those in need first, allowing everyone to escape fuel poverty once and for all. Here’s the key points you need to know:

Funding is available for homes rated D or below on their Energy Performance Certificate

At least one person at the address must be in receipt of one of the following benefits:
- Child Tax Credit
- Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) – Income Based
- Housing Benefit – new eligible benefit
- Income Support
- Jobseekers Allowance (JSA) – Income Based
- Pension Credit Guarantee Credit
- Pension Credit Savings Credit – new eligible benefit
- Universal Credit
- Working Tax Credit
- Child Benefit (subject to income threshold)
Can you get an ECO4 grant if you’re not on benefits?
Yes, you can! ECO4 Flex is designed to help households who don’t claim benefits and earn less £31,000 per year. You may also be able to receive help if you currently have a health condition that’s made worse by cold living conditions.
